“Lean on the people around you. Your nVent teammates are more than willing to help because many people had to help them to get to where they are today. The only bad question is the one you never asked.”

When Chris was first approached by nVent’s in-house talent acquisition team, his initial reaction was, “Thanks, but I’m happy where I’m at.” However, after being persuaded by Craig O’Connor to meet the hiring manager, Lowie Van Rymenant, who’s now the VP of Marketing, he decided to take the leap. As Chris humorously puts it, “The rest is history!”

Chris is based in Vancouver, British Columbia and works remotely. He initially started as the Marketing Manager for the nVent NUHEAT products portfolio in North America. Over time, more teammates began to appreciate his creativity and forward-thinking approach. As a result, he was entrusted with expanding parts of the product line in his portfolio. Today, he’s responsible for all marketing of residential and commercial heating lines from the nVent NUHEAT products portfolio, nVent RAYCHEM products portfolio, and nVent PYROTENAX products portfolio in North America.

For Chris, every day is different at nVent, and that’s what makes his role exciting. As a marketing manager, he continually adapts marketing strategies based on market feedback and plans launches for new products. He collaborates with customers, end-users, sales, customer care, product management, and operations to position our products for maximum success.

A significant point in his career was the launch of the co-branded floor heating products produced for our partner, MAPEI. He conceptualized the idea releasing the product line under the “MAPEI Mapeheat with Technology from nVent NUHEAT” banner. The journey from concept to sales pitch, development and launch was immensely satisfying for him. He was also able to witness further growth as the product distribution multiplied in Europe following initial success in North America.

When asked about the nVent values that excite him the most, Chris keenly pointed out ‘Innovation and Adaptability’. The thrill of trying new things and adapting effectively to change keeps his work fun and satisfying.

Having spent most of his career with smaller, private companies, Chris appreciates the blend of global scale, presence in different markets, and specialist positions at nVent. He believes this combination enhances learning from one another and offers incredible opportunities for individual growth and change within the company. “We are constantly learning from one another; there is incredible opportunity for growth and change as an individual within the company,” says Chris.

nVent’s overall benefits package is an aspect Chris highly appreciates. He highlights the 5-to-1 RRSP match for Canadian employees as being very generous and encouraging for employees to incorporate savings into their everyday budgeting process. Moreover, nVent’s medical benefits have provided tremendous support for Chris’s family, sparing them from worrying about medical bills while focusing on their kids’ health. This, he shared, has been very comforting.

Chris’s advice to others navigating a big, global, constantly evolving organization like nVent? “Lean on the people around you. Your nVent teammates are more than willing to help because many people had to help them to get to where they are today. The only bad question is the one you never asked.”
